bio

Sicilian painter and performer, born in 1980, Valentina Chiappini lives in Milan (Italy).
Brilliantly graduated at "accademia italiana" Arte/Moda/Design in Florence (Italy),
she's currently completing her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts of "Brera" (Milan).
Still very young, actually a child, Valentina started to paint on different surfaces.
At the age of sixteen she discovered a truly personal painting approach,
involving experimenting with signs, sound, colours and symbols
focusing on her principal subject: the "scratch."
She use blades in order to paint in a “nervous” style, creating geo-asymmetrical
spaces, fragmenting and “un-structuring” integrities.
This personal, scratching and primitive style of art comes from the union of her
passions and it has its deepest roots in ancient times and pre-historical artistic
expressions, something we could define as signs of pre-art.
To her, “scratch” is the witness of human presence or passage.
In the last three years she has also experimented with the use of “scratch” and
serigraphy together.
